2013 Conference

3rd IASI International Conference

Hyères, France
February 4 to 8, 2013

3rd IASI conference from 4 to 8 February 2013

The third IASI conference was held from 4 to 8 February 2013

The third IASI conference Conference, organized by EUMETSAT and CNES, was held in Hyeres (France) from 4 to 8 February 2013. Since its launch in 2006, the instrument has brought an important contribution to weather forecasting and to the knowledge of atmosphere composition. It is also playing a growing role in the climate monitoring. Usage of IASI data has significantly developed recently in terms of applications, data handling, retrieval, assimilation and validation techniques. The objectives of the conference were to review consolidated results from IASI products after 6 years of operations on Metop-A and prepare for the exploitation of IASI measurements from Metop-B.

The conference consisted of 60 oral presentations and 45 posters addressing the following topics:

  • IASI instruments and ground segment status
  • Instrument availability, performances (including METOP-B CAL/VAL), monitoring
  • Data handling: processing, compression, distribution, archiving
  • Science and applications
  • Spectroscopy and radiative transfer model for IASI
  • IASI in synergy with other instruments (including IASI-A versus IASI-B)
  • Intercalibration with IASI
  • Weather forecasting (global or regional NWP)
  • Retrieval techniques
  • Assimilation in chemical numerical models
  • Climate studies
  • Atmospheric composition (Chemistry, eruptions follow-up, fire plumes)
  • Surfaces modeling and sensing
  • Sounding products
  • Clouds and aerosols
  • Products validation
